I feel understood now

Have a look at this article from Neuropsychology.

But their classifications seem to limited. In my experience there are four levels of sarcasm:

1. No sarcastic capabilities (e.g. children or people with prefrontal damage as mentioned in the article)

2. Slight sarcasm detection (if you exaggerate a topic that much that it's hardly sarcasm any more)

3. Advanced sarcasm skills (people that have grasped the general concept and are able to use and detect sarcasm in daily situations)

4. Excessive use of sarcasm. It's symptoms are the consistent use of sarcasm, irony and cynism as generic means of communication to a degree that it sometimes even overflows as an integer might overflow in C programming. You show symptoms of excessive sarcasm when even your straightforward statements in discussions are taken for sarcasm.
Only few people are able to reach level 4, but I'm pressing thumbs to everyone out there that you join me soon.
